Wondering if advanced media training is right for you? Let us help.
Media interviews feel different when you’ve done a few of them – and it can be more challenging.
You’ve spoken to journalists before, understand how interviews work and know what’s expected of you – and the nerves are gone now too.
So why consider advanced media training?
Because experience brings a different kind of pressure.
At this level, interviews are about more than introductions or getting comfortable on camera.
The stakes are often higher.
The audience is bigger. The scrutiny is sharper. And small mistakes can have bigger consequences.

Who is advanced media training for?
Advanced media training is designed for people who already engage with the media, including:
• senior leaders and executives
• experienced spokespeople
• professionals dealing with complex, sensitive or high-profile issues
Rather than learning the basics, it’s about refining how you communicate when it really counts.

What makes advanced training different?
Beginner media training focuses on understanding the process, building confidence and becoming more comfortable on camera.
Advanced training assumes you already have that foundation.
Instead, we work on:
• answering difficult questions clearly and directly
• staying on message under sustained questioning
• and knowing when to stop talking
Here are three things that often catch people out at this stage:

Firstly, the use of language.
At this level, people often forget how unfamiliar their world is to others. Industry language can slip in.
If someone lacking background knowledge would struggle to follow your response, it’s time to simplify.
Advanced media training focuses on stripping answers back and removing the jargon so they make sense beyond your organisation – to journalists and the public alike.

Secondly, losing control of the message.
Even experienced spokespeople can be caught out by a challenging follow-up or a question that changes direction unexpectedly.
When this happens, instinct often takes over – and instinct usually tells us to keep talking.
One of the biggest lessons at this level is learning when to stop.
Under such pressure, answers drift, and the key message is lost. Advanced media training helps people recognise those moments and calmly regain control without sounding defensive.

Thirdly, preparation can drop off.
At senior level, preparation is often the first thing to go – because you’ve done this before, handled tough questions and know your subject.
The problem? Every interview is different. When preparation drops off, even confident spokespeople can be caught out and say something they later regret.
Advanced media training is about rebuilding that discipline and gives you the space to practise handling these moments calmly, so your message stays clear and on track when it matters most.
